The head of the Executive Authority of the Communications and Media Commission, Blaq Abu Kalal, announced today, Thursday, the approval of Apple as a verified digital platform to operate in the Republic of Iraq after fulfilling all the requirements and procedures stipulated in the framework regulations for digital platforms and services.
The Commission stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the approval includes classifying Apple as a trusted digital service provider for its services represented by (App Store, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple Arcade, and Apple Ads) after meeting the technical and legal requirements to provide them within a regulatory framework that aligns with the applicable legislation.
It added that this approval is part of a strategy aimed at aligning the services of international companies with Iraqi legislation to ensure the protection of user rights, support the digital economy, and develop the investment environment in the information technology sector.
It continued that work is ongoing with major international companies and platforms to complete the licensing and accreditation procedures to expand the scope of digital services, organize electronic payment processes, and build a digital environment based on the rule of law and governance.
