Urgent government decisions to strengthen financial oversight and secure the supply of electricity and oil.

Today, Thursday, Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaydi chaired the thirteenth regular session of the Cabinet to discuss the developments in the country and review the items on the agenda, as well as to issue the necessary directives and decisions regarding them.

The media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that the council voted to cancel the Diwani Order (54 of 2026) and to transfer the responsibility for the prior audit of government contracts to the Federal Financial Supervision Bureau, while approving the audit guide and setting a period not exceeding 10 working days for strategic and urgent contracts and those that exceed amounts of one billion dinars, in addition to approving the eighth annual report of the Council for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing for 2025.

He added that the decisions included the oil and electricity sectors by approving the implementation of operating and maintenance contracts for the Rumaila and Shatt Al-Arab stations through public bidding, and exempting contracts for the import and export of oil products from the audit procedures of the Financial Supervision Bureau to facilitate workflow until the navigation conditions in the Strait of Hormuz improve, along with amendments to the prices of fuel from the Karbala refinery and exempting projects of the Ministry of Electricity and approving priority laws directed to the House of Representatives.
