Iraq's position in supporting the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination was confirmed today, Thursday, by Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein. He pointed out that the countries in the region are working to achieve a ceasefire and open the Strait of Hormuz.

The Foreign Minister stated in a remark followed by the Video News Agency on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting concerning Jerusalem, held in the Jordanian capital, Amman: "The Iraqi paper at the ministerial meeting discussed the geographical and demographic changes occurring in Jerusalem."
He added, "We addressed the Palestinian cause in general, and the stance of the Iraqi government and the Iraqi state in support of the Palestinian cause, and our full belief in the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, and in what the Palestinian people themselves and their leadership choose."
He continued, "We also discussed the ongoing solidarity with the Palestinian people and the international organizations that serve the Palestinian cause, especially the Palestinian refugees, and our support for and assistance to the UNRWA organization specialized in Palestinian refugees."
The Foreign Minister explained: "I held numerous meetings on the sidelines of the conference with the Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and some private meetings with some ministers from Islamic countries."
He added that "part of the meetings discussed the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the military operations existing in the region," emphasizing that "everyone points to the seriousness of the challenges facing the region," confirming that "the countries in the region are all seeking to achieve a ceasefire and open the Strait of Hormuz."
And on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting regarding Jerusalem, held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, he said: "The Iraqi paper at the ministerial meeting discussed the geographical and demographic changes occurring in Jerusalem."
