The Colombian star Shakira returned to Spanish stages in a remarkable concert in the capital, Madrid, after years of absence, with an audience of around 50,000 people.

Shakira delivered a two-hour show that combined spectacular performances, emotional moments, and her most prominent songs over more than 30 years.

Shakira took to the stage to begin her first concert as part of an artistic residency that includes 12 shows, during which she performed 25 songs, starting with "La Fuerza," before moving on to a selection of her most famous old and new works.

During the concert, Shakira spoke about her return to Spain and her personal life, telling the audience: "I can't believe I'm here," before recalling her memories in the country where she lived important years of her life and became a mother.

She also referred to the phase of her separation from former football player Gerard Piqué, explaining that family breakdown can make a person feel as if they've lost their compass before discovering the possibility of moving forward and starting a new phase.

The star moved between her famous works, from "Estoy Aquí" and "Tus Ojos" and "Barefoot" and "Greatest Hits" to "Don't Bother" and "I Can't Forget You" and "Try Not," in addition to "You Cross My Mind" and "Blackmail" and "Hips Don't Lie."

The moment she performed "Waka Waka" was one of the highlights of the concert, before Shakira concluded the evening with her famous song with Bizarrap, amid colorful confetti and fireworks.

Shakira's residency in Madrid will continue until October 11, as part of a tour named after her album "Women Don't Cry," set to be released in 2024.
