The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Sunday, the arrest of the chairman and members of one of the collection committees in the Municipality of Al-Shatra for exploiting their positions to unlawfully seize state-owned funds.
The Commission stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that a work team formed in the Dhi Qar Investigation Office moved to Al-Shatra's livestock market and, after investigation, monitoring, and auditing, succeeded in arresting four suspects holding the positions of chairman and members of the revenue collection committee established by an administrative order issued by the municipality.
The Commission added that the operation revealed an agreement among the suspects and two other individuals to carry out the collection and share the revenues daily among themselves, despite the expiration of the livestock market contract since 2024.
It continued that a proper seizure report was prepared and presented along with the suspects, totaling six individuals, to the investigating judge specializing in integrity cases in Dhi Qar, who decided to detain them under the provisions of Article 316 of the Penal Code.
