The Director of the Ramadi Dam Project, Senior Chief Engineer Majid Ibrahim Salman, confirmed today, Sunday, the increase in the flow levels of the Euphrates River from the Syrian side, indicating that the increase in revenues enhances the water storage in Haditha and Al-Habbaniyah.
Salman stated in a press interview that "the levels of the Euphrates River have risen with the increase of water flows coming from the Syrian side to more than one thousand cubic meters per second," explaining that "the current releases from the Haditha Dam towards the Ramadi Dam are about 700 cubic meters per second, while the water reaching the front of the Ramadi Dam is distributed between the Euphrates River flow and the excess amounts heading to Al-Habbaniyah Lake."
He added that "the water flowing through the Euphrates River contributes to supplying the provinces located in the center and south, while the excess amounts are directed to Al-Habbaniyah Lake to enhance its water storage."
He clarified that "the water revenues coming from the Syrian side have contributed to enhancing the storage inside the Haditha Dam, with currently good storage capacity available in the dam, as well as storage capacity in Al-Habbaniyah Lake, which allows for the utilization of this water to meet needs during the upcoming seasons."
He noted that "enhancing the water storage will positively reflect on the agricultural plan in Anbar province and other provinces," pointing out that "the continuation of high water revenues from the Syrian side will allow for an increase in the storage of the Haditha Dam and subsequently enhance the storage of Al-Habbaniyah Lake."
He added that "Al-Habbaniyah Lake represents an important water storage that can be utilized during dry seasons through the Thiban Dam to enhance releases towards the Euphrates River flow, thereby supporting the sustainability of water and securing needs in the upcoming periods."
