The Media and Communications Authority issued a warning today, Sunday, to the Iraqi Al-Awla channel and the program "Al-Midan with Muqdad Al-Hameedan," while it decided to ban the analyst Munaf Al-Moussawi from appearing in all media for 15 days.
The authority stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that the Media Regulation Department observed a violation of the Al-Midan program to the broadcasting regulations issued by the authority in the episode aired on September 15, 2026, specifically Article Four of Chapter Two, which pertains to accuracy, integrity, and transparency in information transmission. It directed a warning to the channel and emphasized the necessity to adhere to professional content and delete the violating episode.
It added that it was based on the powers granted to it by Legislative Order No. 65 of 2004 and according to a report from the Media Regulation Department regarding Munaf Al-Moussawi's statements in the same program, which constituted a breach of Article Two of Chapter Two regarding propriety, ethics, and public taste, as well as violations of the public morals obligations for dialogue and avoiding verbal transgressions and personal insults.
The authority continued that it has decided to prohibit the appearance of Munaf Al-Moussawi in local and foreign media operating in Iraq for 15 days from the date of the issuance of the circular, holding the violating parties fully accountable for any legal repercussions in case of hosting him.
