The commission reveals the date for conducting the provincial council elections.

The parliamentary finance committee discussed today, Monday, the support for the electoral commission and meeting its technical and financial needs for the upcoming entitlements, while the commission confirmed that it is in the process of conducting governorate council elections in 2027.

The media department of the parliament stated in a statement received by the "Video News Agency" that "the parliamentary finance committee, headed by Adi Awad and in the presence of its members, hosted members of the Independent High Electoral Commission to discuss several files related to the commission's work and its financial and technical needs, in addition to discussing the budget for the commission within the framework of the federal public budget law."

The department added that "at the beginning of the meeting, the committee chairman welcomed the commission members," emphasizing "the importance of supporting the commission and empowering it to accomplish its tasks and prepare for the upcoming electoral entitlements."

It noted that "the committee listened to a detailed explanation regarding the observations and needs of the esteemed judges who are members of the commission, and the possibility of transferring financial amounts within the commission's budget, in a way that contributes to meeting its requirements."

The department indicated that "the amendment of the commission's law was also discussed, and the mechanism for adopting the unified card in the voting process, along with discussions on the measures and solutions related to increasing the number of stations and devices, especially with the entry of new numbers of voters within the age groups eligible for voting, ensuring the provision of the necessary requirements to conduct the electoral process."

For its part, the commission clarified that it "is in the process of conducting governorate council elections in 2027, in addition to issuing electoral cards," explaining "the difference between the unified card and the biometric card, and what pertains to the mechanisms for their adoption in the electoral process."
