The Union of Islamic Religious Scholars in Kurdistan expressed, today Wednesday, its regret that the Kurdish issue was not addressed during the conference "Unity of the Middle Nation: From Principles to the Charter of Unity," held in Istanbul, Turkey, with the participation of figures and scholars from various parts of the Islamic world. The union stated in a statement that it had hoped for its invitation to participate in the conference, as it represents a broad segment of religious scholars in Kurdistan, in addition to including the Kurdish issue in the discussions and the final statement of the conference. It noted that the Kurdish people have suffered for a century from various forms of oppression, including humanitarian tragedies, chemical bombardments, and the Anfal operations, as well as challenges related to their legitimate rights and national aspirations. The union affirmed that Kurdish national identity does not contradict belonging to the Islamic nation, emphasizing that diversity among peoples should be a means for recognition, cooperation, and integration, not a reason for marginalization or neglect. It called for greater attention to the Kurdish issue in upcoming Islamic forums and meetings, stressing that the unity of the Islamic nation can only be completed through fairness and balanced attention to the issues of all its peoples.
