The Iranian Supreme Leader, Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei, confirmed today, Wednesday, that what he described as Iran imposing its will in the Strait of Hormuz and destroying U.S. bases in the region was a response to aggression, warning that any new transgressions would be met with a more substantial Iranian response.
Khamenei stated in a speech on the occasion of "Anti-Imperialism Day" that the only way to achieve absolute deterrence is to continue the strategy of enhancing Iran on the path to comprehensive progress.
He added that the situation in the Gulf, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, revealed what he called the false legend of the invincible United States and demonstrated the weakness of governments that rely on external powers instead of their own people.
He pointed out that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz proved, in his words, the inability of the great powers to defend their allies, considering that control over the strait and the elimination of U.S. bases in the region represent a "preliminary jihad against imperialism" at the regional level.
Khamenei warned that the Iranian response would take on much larger dimensions in the event of repeated transgressions, emphasizing the importance of strengthening sovereignty and unity in the arenas of Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen.
He continued that the forces of falsehood, no matter how strong they may become, will not be able to withstand the forces of truth, believing that the United States and hegemonic powers are facing an irreversible collapse, both militarily and in terms of global politics.
