The Najaf Misdemeanor Court issued a four-month prison sentence today, Wednesday, against provincial council member Akram Sharba, following a defamation suit filed by Najaf Governor Yusuf Kanawi.
A judicial source stated that the ruling came after the governor filed a lawsuit against Sharba, regarding statements and allegations related to the sale of a plot of land in the city of Najaf for 10,000 dinars per square meter.
The source added that the court issued its decision based on the provisions of Article (431) of the applicable Iraqi Penal Code.
