The Egyptian artist Mohamed Henedy announced today, Monday, the death of his older brother "Hesham Henedy," after he faced a health crisis in recent times.
Henedy disclosed his brother's death through a post on his official page on the social media site "Facebook," where he said: "Indeed, to God we belong and to Him we shall return, may God grant patience on the death of my older brother Hesham, we ask you to pray for him to receive mercy."
The death of Mohamed Henedy coincided with the hosting of the special screening of his new film "Al-Gawahirji," which was supposed to take place tonight at a private cinema in Sixth of October City.
The organizers made all the necessary arrangements for the event, while several participating artists and some media outlets arrived at the location, awaiting the arrival of the film's stars "Mohamed Henedy and Mona Zaki." However, they were surprised by the news of Henedy's brother's death, which prompted the production company to cancel the special screening and apologize to the audience.
The film is set to be released in cinemas tomorrow, Tuesday, making it available to the public, and it will also be shown in some Arab countries in the coming days.
The film "Al-Gawahirji" features a large ensemble of stars alongside Mohamed Henedy and Mona Zaki, including Loubna Abdel Aziz, Ahmed Salah El Saadany, Tara Emad, and Bassem Samra, in an experience that combines comedy with various social situations.
It is worth mentioning that the film is written by the author Omar Taher and directed by Islam Khairy, and it is considered one of the most prominent films in the Summer 2026 season, due to the immense popularity of its stars, in addition to the return of the duo Henedy and Mona Zaki to appear together on screen.
Henedy and Mona Zaki previously teamed up 26 years ago in the film "Saidi in the American University," which established their artistic fame, and the production entity intends to present a sequel to it.
