Government documents revealed the referral of archaeologist Amer Abdul Razzaq for investigation by the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, following statements he made regarding the exhibition of an Iraqi artifact among collections in Kuwait.
The documents show, according to what "Video News Agency" has reviewed, that Abdul Razzaq's referral came after statements he made about the existence of the "Bronze Goat" artifact among what he described as "the masterpieces of the royal family in Kuwait" in an exhibition held in the Gulf region.
According to information, Kuwait displayed, on December 9, 2025, within an exhibition held in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, 133 artifacts, including the bronze goat attributed to the civilization of the Tigris and Euphrates valleys in Iraq.
In this context, a source stated in a press interview reviewed by "Video News Agency" that "political pressures were exerted on the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage in the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities not to raise this issue, in order to preserve Iraq's relations with neighboring countries, including Kuwait."
The source added that "thousands of Iraqi artifacts smuggled through illegal means are present in Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates," claiming that the Iraqi official authorities " refrain from contacting those countries to recover them under the pretext of maintaining Arab relations," while he said that these artifacts are displayed in traveling museums around the world.
Abdul Razzaq had previously revealed in press statements about the existence of one of the rarest artifacts belonging to the civilization of Mesopotamia in the State of Kuwait, calling on official authorities to take immediate action to recover it and investigate how it left the country illegally.
