The Yemeni armed forces announced today, Monday, that they targeted the Saudi oil tanker "Amzan" with a ballistic missile off the coast of the city of Yanbu in the northern Red Sea, confirming that the attack led to a fire breaking out on the ship.
The Yemeni armed forces stated, in a statement monitored by the News Video Agency, that the targeting resulted in direct damage to the ship, noting that a number of other vessels in the targeted area left the location following the attack.
The statement added that the operation comes as part of what the Yemeni armed forces described as a decision to impose a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia, establishing the equation of "blockade for blockade," as expressed.
In a related context, the Yemeni armed forces announced the execution of two military operations that targeted Saudi reinforcements in the Al-Abar and Al-Wadiah areas as well as the Al-Kanais area, using ballistic missiles and drones.
It was mentioned that the first operation targeted a Saudi military convoy loaded with supplies in the Al-Abar and Al-Wadiah areas, which resulted, according to the statement, in the burning and destruction of more than ten trucks loaded with weapons coming from Saudi territory.
It added that the second operation targeted Saudi reinforcements in the Al-Kanais area, indicating that it resulted, according to the statement, in the killing and injuring of dozens, including leaders and officers, in addition to the burning and destruction of several weapon depots.
The Yemeni armed forces confirmed their continuation of enforcing a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia within the operational area they announced, threatening to respond to any escalation with operations that they said would be "stronger, harsher, and broader."
