The Iraqi player Najla Imad achieved a remarkable sports accomplishment today, Saturday, by winning a gold medal in the women's singles competition of category WS6 at the Para Table Tennis event as part of the Future Lahti 2026 Championship held in Lahti, Finland.
Sports sources told the news agency that Najla Imad's victory came in the women's singles competition for the WS6 category, which saw significant participation from players from Iraq, Poland, India, Sweden, and China. The Polish participant Barbara Jabłonka, the Indian Prachi Pandey, and the Swedish Emily Indre were among the competitors, alongside the withdrawal of the Chinese player from the competition.
They added that Najla Imad succeeded in securing the competition in her favor, taking first place and ascending to the podium to raise the Iraqi flag at the championship. They noted that the Future Lahti 2026 Championship features wide participation from athletes from Finland, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Brazil, India, Poland, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Japan, Iceland, Britain, the Netherlands, Sweden, the United States, Italy, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Macau, and Iraq.
