A specialized security team from the Babil Police Directorate arrested a suspect today, Tuesday, for the theft of a store selling aluminum and PVC and attempted to erase the traces of his crime by seizing the surveillance camera recording device.

The Babil Governorate Police Directorate stated in a statement received by Video News Agency that Police Chief Major General Abbas Hassan Nasser Al-Husseini instructed the formation of a specialized security team under the leadership of the Director of Babil Criminal Investigation, which included the Rural Criminal Investigation Division to gather information, analyze nearby recordings, and cross-reference them with the police central system. They confirmed the identification of the suspect and tracked his movements until they apprehended him in a well-planned ambush and successfully lured him in.

The statement indicated that the suspect confessed during the initial investigations to committing six thefts at different times and dates by climbing the stores’ fences and crossing over buildings to steal cash and recording devices to hide the evidence, explaining that his statements were validated legally before the duty judge, and he was detained according to the provisions of Article (446) of the Penal Code to complete the legal procedures against him.
