A security source informed this evening, Tuesday, that an order has been issued to appoint Major General Mohammed Jawad Al-Saadi as the commander of the Maysan Police, succeeding the previous commander who was relieved of his position.
The source said in a press statement that I reviewed with "Video News Agency" that the appointment of the new commander comes after the dismissal of the previous commander of Maysan Police, as well as the commander of Maysan Operations, from their positions, following the verification of missile attacks targeting oil facilities in Saudi Arabia from a location inside the province.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaydi, issued an order last Saturday relieving the commander of Maysan Operations from his position.
The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Naama, stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that Al-Zaydi also directed the formation of an investigative council regarding the Maysan Operations Command to look into the circumstances of the incident and determine responsibilities.
