The Kurdistan Regional Government, on Wednesday, expressed its rejection of the expected budget allocations for 2027, affirming its insistence on a share of 14% of the federal public budget based on the results of the population census.

The spokesperson for the regional government, Peshawa Hurmami, stated during a press conference following a session of the regional cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and his deputy Qubad Talabani, that "the true share of the Kurdistan Region from the federal public budget should be 14%, not 12.67%", considering that the latter percentage contradicts the results of the population census conducted by the federal government.

Hurmami added that "the salaries of employees of the Kurdistan Regional Government should be guaranteed within the federal public budget and separated from all political disputes," indicating that over a million beneficiaries receive their salaries through the "My Account" project.

The spokesperson for the regional government called for hosting the Iraqi Minister of Planning in the House of Representatives to discuss the share of the Kurdistan Region from the federal public budget.
