The Ministry of Health announced today, Thursday, that the Council of Ministers has exempted global pharmaceutical companies from the conditions for their return to the Iraqi market.
The ministry stated in a statement that "the Council of Ministers decided in its nineteenth ordinary session to exempt major innovative global companies from the conditions that restrict their return and participation."
It added that "the council directed the Ministry of Finance to expedite financing the contracts concluded by the General Company for Marketing Drugs and Medical Supplies."
It clarified that "the decision came as a continuation of the path adopted by Minister Abdul Hussein Al-Moussawi in supporting the priority of providing medicines and supplies, serums and vaccines, and medical devices, according to the best approved global specifications and allowing major innovative global companies the opportunity to reintegrate into the local pharmaceutical market strongly and open the door for competition based on quality and price, based on what the minister presented in his request in the Council of Ministers session to expedite routine procedures and provide the proper preliminaries for the return of these major global companies."
