U.S. President Donald Trump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping, who he welcomed yesterday, Wednesday, at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
Trump wrote in a post on his platform "Truth Social" today, Thursday: "I met with President Xi yesterday... He looked strong, vibrant, and in excellent health, even better than ever... As for Mrs. Xi, she is, of course, very beautiful."
He also shared a photo that was described as strange by several Americans on social media, showing the U.S. President saluting alongside his Chinese guest, with an aircraft that participated in the air display honoring Xi flying overhead.
However, the phrase "Only Trump" was also written on the photo, a reference that was interpreted in several ways, including that Trump is the only president who welcomed a Chinese president at the airport.
Some commentators also pointed to Trump's blonde assistant Natalie Harp, who appeared behind the two presidents in the photo, especially since the thirty-something young woman had recently raised many questions about her role in the White House and her relationship with Trump.
Trump welcomed "Xi Jinping and his wife" at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday evening upon the arrival of the Chinese leader for a state visit to the United States.
He shook hands with the couple, thus becoming the first U.S. president in nearly six decades to welcome a foreign counterpart at that airport.
