The Egyptian actors Mohamed Ramadan and Ahmed El Awady stirred interactions on social media after posting messages on their Facebook accounts, hinting at the characters "Ishmawy" and "Sultan El Deeb," associated with two dramatic works set to compete in the Ramadan 2027 season.
Ramadan wrote on his Facebook account yesterday, Saturday: "3 years, everyone did what they had... Now shhhhh Ishmawy is ready," attaching the hashtag "Ramadan gathers us 2027," indicating his anticipated return to television drama after being absent from the Ramadan races since the airing of "Jaafar El Omda" in 2023.
In contrast, El Awady posted on his account, Sunday, "The place you are returning to, we have already printed it," ending his post with the name "Sultan El Deeb," the character he portrays in his new series set to air during Ramadan 2027.
The two actors did not reveal additional details about their posts, which opened the door for speculation about the nature of the characters and the events of the upcoming works, and whether El Awady's post represents a response to Ramadan's message or if it is part of promoting his new series.
Ramadan's return to drama
The series "Ishmawy" represents Mohamed Ramadan's latest step towards returning to drama, after being absent from the Ramadan competition since "Jaafar El Omda," which was aired in 2023 and achieved significant audience engagement, revolving around a businessman who gets caught in multiple conflicts, intertwining his family crises with a series of surprises.
The lead cast includes Hala Sidqi, Zeina, Mai Kassab, Eman El Assi, Menna Fadali, and Ahmed Dash, and it is written and directed by Mohamed Sami.
It is worth mentioning that throughout his television career, Ramadan has presented several series that gained public popularity, including "Ibn Halal" in 2014, "El Ostoura" in 2016, "Nesr El Saeed" in 2018, "El Prince" in 2020, "Mousa" in 2021, and "El Mashwar" in 2022, leading up to "Jaafar El Omda."
However, during his absence from Ramadan drama, Ramadan continued his activities in cinema and singing, previously indicating his focus on his film projects, notably the film "Asad."
El Awady is preparing for "Sultan El Deeb"
On the other hand, El Awady continues to prepare for his new series "Sultan El Deeb," set to air in Ramadan 2027, featuring several artists, including Sawsan Badr, Rania Youssef, Yara Al Skari, and Lujain Khalifa.
The new work comes after the series "Ali Clay," which aired in Ramadan 2026, while El Awady participated in the film "Samson and Delilah" alongside Mai Omar, Khaled El Sawy, and Issam El Sakka, belonging to the action and comedy genre.
