The 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation concluded today, Sunday, in the capital Baghdad. The event, hosted by Iraq under the slogan "Dialogue and Solidarity are Fundamental Pillars to Promote Peace and Sustainable Development," took place 45 years after Baghdad hosted the previous session in 1981.

The official spokesperson for the session, Hossein Kamel, stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that the meetings witnessed participation from 55 member and observer states, 22 foreign ministers, representatives from 30 organizations, and six envoys, in addition to UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed as a guest of honor, totaling 601 participants, along with extensive media coverage.

He added that the session saw the presence of Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi and the transition of the council presidency from the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Iraq; enhancing Iraq's role in coordinating positions and developing joint Islamic work.

He noted that the Palestinian issue and the Holy Jerusalem topped the agenda of the session, emphasizing the need to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, deliver aid, support reconstruction, reject displacement, settlement, and annexation, and support the rights of the Palestinian people and the UNRWA. He mentioned that the meetings addressed regional crises, security and humanitarian challenges, countering terrorism and extremism, Islamophobia, and enhancing economic and developmental cooperation.

He confirmed that the session concluded with the adoption of decisions and the issuance of the Baghdad Declaration, which emphasizes the importance of solidarity and cooperation in addressing common challenges, expressing Iraq's gratitude and appreciation to all participating delegations, the General Secretariat, and the entities that contributed to the success of the meetings.
