The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Monday, the arrest of three suspects in the state property, electricity, and municipality departments in Dhi Qar Governorate for causing damage to public funds, embezzlement, and forgery.

The commission stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that its staff in the Dhi Qar investigation office revealed collusion by a surveyor working in the State Properties Department in granting an investment license for a project to create warehouses, display halls, and shops on a property of 6000 m², noting that the arrested surveyor, who was detained for deliberately causing damage to the funds and interests of the entity he works for, is the son of the investor.

It added that the transitional team, in a separate operation at the Al-Jbayesh Electricity Distribution Department, managed to apprehend an employee who exploited his position and wrongfully seized state-owned money, explaining that follow-up and investigation concluded that the suspect embezzled electrical materials under his responsibility, including cables of various sizes and lengths, and projectors, with the materials confiscated at his residence.

It continued that the team from the Nasiriyah Municipality detected, in a third operation, an individual in possession of documents and reports concerning the allocation of land plots belonging to the municipality, as well as powers of attorney and deeds, indicating that the apprehended suspect was found to be selling state-owned properties to deceased individuals by forging their official documents.

The commission confirmed that judicial reports were organized and presented along with the suspects to the investigating judge specialized in integrity cases in Dhi Qar, who decided to detain them in accordance with the provisions of articles 340, 316, and 289 of the Penal Code.
