The head of the executive body of the Media and Communications Authority, Bilal Abu Kulal, called for the adoption of an Arab mechanism to monitor the implementation of the decisions of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information and to enhance the organization of digital content, ensuring the coordination of Arab positions regarding media challenges.
A statement from the Authority, followed by the VDO News Agency, noted that Abu Kulal participated in the 23rd session of the executive bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information, held at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo, with participation from an Iraqi delegation headed by board member Hisham Al-Rikabi.
The statement clarified that Abu Kulal reviewed Iraq's efforts to organize the media sector and the measures taken to enhance compliance with regulatory standards, particularly in dealing with social media platforms and addressing non-compliant content and accounts that harm Iraq's relations with Arab countries.
Abu Kulal emphasized the important role of the media in strengthening Arab relations, calling for the responsible media discourse to support joint cooperation and mitigate content that negatively impacts relations between countries.
He stressed the need to create an objective mechanism to monitor the implementation of the decisions of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information and to turn recommendations into actionable and evaluable procedures, in addition to adhering to the Arab media work charter and adopting it as a reference framework for communication with social media platforms and the companies operating them.
