Elon Musk, the richest man in the world who has become one of the largest donors to the Republican Party ever during this year's midterm elections, expressed his views via social media early Wednesday, following predictions suggesting a historic majority for Democrats.
Musk posted on his social media platform "X", as reported by the news video agency, and attached a shrugging emoji: "It seems that my space rays interfering in the elections did not work this time."
Musk spent nearly half a billion dollars in this midterm election cycle, making him the largest disclosed donor in modern American politics.
In another post, Musk stated: "Data centers in space look very attractive right now."
CNN previously reported that Musk donated nearly $216 million to "America PAC," a major super PAC that is central to his political operations.
Musk has spent massive amounts, particularly in Texas, where he resides and has made his headquarters for parts of his vast business portfolio.
Texas Democrat James Talarico—who is projected to win a seat in the state Senate—seemed to directly criticize Elon Musk in his victory speech, stating: "We just proved that all the money in the world can't stand against the people of Texas."
