The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Friday the termination of Mohammed Hassan Attiya's membership in the Salah al-Din Provincial Council for failing to meet the eligibility requirements for candidacy.

In an official statement, the IHEC said the decision was based on Commissioners' Resolution No. (11) of Extraordinary Meeting No. (78) dated October 28, 2025, and referenced a letter from the Ministry of Education containing recommendations for terminating his membership.
The IHEC explained that it had sent an official letter to the Provincial Council for the immediate implementation of the decision, emphasizing that this measure falls within the framework of monitoring local council members' compliance with laws and candidacy requirements.
The head of the Electoral Administration, Amer Moussa al-Husseini, stressed the IHEC's commitment to ensuring the integrity of the electoral process and the transparency of local council operations, calling for the necessary measures to be taken to implement the decision in accordance with the law.
