The U.S. Treasury Department announced today, Wednesday, a new round of economic sanctions related to Iran, which included entities, individuals, and commercial and airline transport companies, in an updating step of the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
The U.S. Treasury stated in a statement reviewed by "Video News Agency" that the decisions issued include the lifting of previously imposed restrictions and automatic freezes on a group of companies and individual entities, noting that this measure comes as part of a review of the regulations and general licenses related to commercial activities, shipping, and civil aviation services.
The department clarified that the removal of these names and entities—including regional airlines—officially allows them to resume financial and commercial transactions, reopen accounts, and remove assets from the scope of the sanctions imposed by U.S. law, while emphasizing at the same time its continued close monitoring of compliance with international standards and conditions related to regional financial transactions.
