The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced today, Wednesday, a new round of economic sanctions related to Iran, which included entities, individuals, and commercial and aviation transport companies, as an updated step to the list of Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
The U.S. Treasury stated in a statement reviewed by the "Video News Agency" that the decisions include lifting the restrictions and automatic freezes that had previously been imposed on a number of companies and individual entities, indicating that this action comes within the framework of reviewing the regulations and general licenses related to commercial activities, maritime navigation, and civil aviation services.
The department clarified that removing these names and entities - among which were regional airlines - officially allows them to resume financial and commercial transactions, reopen accounts, and remove assets from the scope of the sanctions imposed by U.S. law, while emphasizing at the same time its continued close monitoring of compliance with international standards and conditions related to regional financial transactions.
