The Popular Mobilization Forces thwart a terrorist plan to target military sites in Anbar.

The Popular Mobilization Forces announced today, Thursday, the foiling of a terrorist plot targeting military sites in Anbar.

The forces stated in a statement received by the "News Video Agency" that "a unit from the emergency faction of the fourth regiment in the 55th brigade carried out a security and inspection duty within the area of responsibility in Anbar province, covering the desert areas with complex terrains south of the international highway."

It added that "during the execution of the duty, relying on devices for detecting war remnants and the available intelligence information, a number of mortar shells and their accessories were found, which were prepared for use against the barracks and military sites."

It confirmed that "the seized materials were handled by the concerned authorities, and the necessary procedural measures were taken in accordance with the approved protocols and instructions."
