Iraq calls on Germany to reconsider travel warnings issued to its citizens.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein discussed with German Federal Foreign Minister Johan David Wadaful enhancing bilateral relations and regional developments, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Foreign Ministry stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the meeting held yesterday, Wednesday, included a discussion on ways to develop prospects for joint cooperation and regional developments and their implications for the stability of the region, reviewing governmental steps to enhance Iraq's regional position and praising German support in the fight against terrorism, in addition to referencing the successful visit by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi to Germany.

It added that the two sides addressed the repercussions of the current crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and the importance of international efforts to mitigate its effects on navigation and the economy, while the German minister confirmed his country’s commitment to contributing to finding solutions that serve stability, praising Iraq's role and Fouad Hussein's efforts in bridging viewpoints.

Hussein called on the German side to reconsider travel warnings directed at its citizens in light of the security improvement and their impact on investment opportunities, while Germany expressed its willingness to reassess in accordance with the security reality, leading to discussions on the importance of holding a meeting of the Iraqi-German Joint Committee.
