The Iraqi National Security Service announced today, Thursday, the execution of 1,568 judicial arrest warrants in Baghdad and various provinces as part of the "Shadow of Justice" operation based on extensive security and intelligence efforts.
The service stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the operation included suspects in multiple cases, most notably 54 accused of terrorism, 194 for drug-related cases, 553 for extortion and threats, 195 for fraud and deception, and 54 accused of promoting the banned Baath Party.
It added that the operation was conducted under the direct supervision of the head of the National Security Service and in coordination with the agency's specialized judges in Baghdad and the provinces, and it involved identifying the wanted individuals' locations, tracking their movements, and executing the judicial warrants against them according to legal procedures.
The service further stated that the pursuit of the wanted individuals is ongoing and that the execution of judicial arrest warrants will remain among the duties until they are all apprehended and referred to the competent judiciary according to the law.
