The Governor of Dhi Qar, Haidar Al-Husseini, announced today "Thursday" that the province is now "free of environmental pollution in river waters" after transferring sewage to the main drain.

Al-Husseini stated in a statement received by "Video News Agency" that the province has "succeeded in redirecting sewage and wastewater from the Euphrates River to the main drainage," confirming that "Dhi Qar is committed to protecting water sources, the environment, and rivers from pollution sources."

It is noted that the main drain is considered "the third river in Iraq" and extends over a distance of 565 kilometers from north of Baghdad to the Shatt al-Basra, where it is used as a drainage system for reclaiming agricultural lands and alleviating salinity.
