Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian denied today, Friday, that his country has begun or is seeking any war, affirming that they will respond forcefully if attacked.
Pezeshkian stated in an interview with Fox News, which was reviewed by the News Video Agency, that the war was imposed on the country and was not a choice, pointing to pressures to force Iran to submit outside international laws.
He added that the Strait of Hormuz has not been closed and remains open, noting that the country has been subjected to an unjustified attack that led to the martyrdom of leaders and scholars, as well as the bombing of a school sheltering children.
He continued that misunderstandings regarding the implementation of the nuclear agreement have escalated into conflict instead of being resolved at the negotiating table, indicating readiness to accept the provisions of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and reduce the stockpile of uranium enriched to 60% within the framework of international law.
Pezeshkian clarified that the claims about the deaths of tens of thousands in the recent events are unrealistic, pointing to the publication of names and national ID numbers of 3,015 individuals who lost their lives, including about 500 law enforcement and security personnel, with the possibility of sending parties to conduct a new verification process.
