The Diyala Provincial Council decided today, Tuesday, to cancel the "Golden Line" system and adopt a unified schedule for operating private generators, which will end at one o'clock after midnight, with the price per ampere set at 9,000 dinars.

According to the council's decision, which was reviewed by the "Video News Agency," the operation of generators starts from 7 to 8 AM, from 12 PM to 4 PM, and from 5 PM to 1 AM.

The council also set the tariff for the metered system at 45 dinars for the operational hour of licensed generators, and 50 dinars for the operational hour of unlicensed generators, in order to organize the supply mechanism and ease the burden on citizens.

The council also voted on a number of local leaders in Diyala province, while recommending the Diyala Electricity Directorate to prepare a report detailing the positives and negatives of the privatization project, to clarify its impacts on the reality of electricity supply in the province and for the citizens.

The "Golden Line" is a common term in Iraq, referring to the operation of private generators around the clock, as citizens have relied on private generators for years to compensate for the shortage in government-supplied electricity.
