The coach of the North Gas football team, Raef Mohammed, confirmed that his team deserved to win against Al-Zawraa with a goal to nil, at the conclusion of the tenth round of the Iraqi Stars League, describing the victory as historic and praising his players' ability to exploit offensive transitions against one of the most prominent teams in the competition.
Mohammed stated to the News Video Agency that Al-Zawraa is a great team with distinguished coaching staff and clear offensive capabilities, but the North Gas players delivered a good performance technically and succeeded in achieving the deserved victory.
He added that his team wasted several opportunities in the first half and could have increased the score, noting that North Gas has relied on offensive transitions since the beginning of the season and was successful in utilizing them effectively during the match.
He explained that the coaching staff identified some spaces in Al-Zawraa's defense and worked to exploit them through quick transitions, emphasizing that the skills of his players fit this style, especially in big matches that require defensive discipline and speed in transitioning to attack.
Mohammed pointed out that his team managed to create chances and reach the opponent's goal, but did not succeed in capitalizing on them as required, confirming that Al-Zawraa posed a threat in certain periods of the match, without it affecting North Gas's ability to settle the game.
He noted that the team faces several challenges during the season, the most prominent of which are playing away from their home ground, not having a training ground, and the lack of experience among some of their players in the Iraqi Stars League competition, factors that increase the difficulty of their task.
The North Gas coach affirmed that the coaching staff will continue to work to maintain the team's level, focusing on defensive organization and addressing the problem of finishing attacks, despite the players' ability to create chances and reach opponents' goals.
Mohammed concluded his remarks by emphasizing the importance of capitalizing on available opportunities to earn points, indicating that a single goal could be enough to achieve victory, as was the case in the match against Al-Zawraa, which he considered an important station for the team in the league competition.
