The Higher Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens condemned the campaign of incitement and racist persecution led by the Prime Minister of the occupation, Benjamin Netanyahu, against Palestinians in the Negev, Triangle, Galilee, and coastal cities in the occupied territories.
In light of this, the committee announced the launch of public and legal movements to confront it, calling for participation in a demonstration tomorrow morning, Sunday, in front of the courthouse on "Weizmann 1" Street in "Tel Aviv".
It clarified, in a statement issued after its secretariat meeting last Thursday in Baqa al-Gharbiyye, that it decided to organize demonstrations and media, legal, public, and international campaigns in response to the escalation of persecutions against the Arab community and its political leadership.
The committee accused Netanyahu of being behind the arrest of several individuals on "Knesset" election day, noting their release later after it became clear that the suspicions attributed to them were unfounded. This, in addition to the arrest of journalist Abd Abu Shahada, who is still imprisoned.
It considered that the arrests were used to incite against the Arab community and sway voter support towards the far-right, asserting that persecution and arrest campaigns would continue during and after the elections.
Additionally, the Follow-Up Committee accused the head of the "Shabak," David Zini, of promoting accusations against Arab leaders and parties in order to undermine their political legitimacy, referring to the leaking of information about an intention to investigate MP Ayman Odeh.
The committee emphasized the necessity of confronting these measures with "national unity in defense of the legitimacy of political action and national identity and belonging," asserting that it would not allow the targeting of any of the leadership or political forces individually.
