The Iraqi Football Association announced today, Sunday, the call-up of player Ahmed Maknzi to the national team, to compensate for the absence of his teammate Mirkhaz Doski, who is confirmed to miss the Basra International Friendly Championship due to injury.
The association stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that "medical examinations confirmed that national team player Mirkhaz Doski sustained an injury to his left knee during his recent participation with his team Victoria Plzen in the Czech Republic."
The statement added that "the national team coaching staff, led by Australian coach Graham Arnold, decided to call up player Ahmed Maknzi to join the ranks of the Black Lions, instead of Doski, to participate in the Basra International Championship."
This change comes ahead of the kickoff of the four-nation international tournament in Basra province, which will witness the participation of the national teams of Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine, as part of the national team’s preparation program, aimed at enhancing technical and physical readiness and assessing the players' capabilities before upcoming challenges.
