The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Sheikh Naeem Qassem, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the American-Iranian memorandum of understanding has contributed to reducing aggression against Lebanon.
Sheikh Qassem said in a speech followed by the News Video Agency that "the goal of the aggression that occurred against Lebanon in September 2024 was to end the resistance and uproot it from the land and life," noting that the party faced that with what he called the battle of (the best of the brave), and was able to continue."
He added that "the hostile parties relied during 15 months on a slow termination and used various tools to strike the path of the resistance," indicating that they "prepared for a major battle that they expected would end the resistance, but they were surprised by the preparations, the popular support, and the strength of the resistance fighters."
Sheikh Qassem pointed out that "the American-Iranian memorandum of understanding stopped the aggression and reduced its level," clarifying that "Iran worked to ensure that Lebanon was the first item on the memorandum, and stipulated stopping the aggression and the (Israeli) withdrawal."
Sheikh Qassem called on the Lebanese authority to what he described as "stopping the free concessions, engaging in dialogue with the resistance, repairing the internal situation, and paying attention to sovereignty."
