A security source confirmed today, Wednesday, that the son of the head of the opposition Kurdish Freedom Party (PAK), Hussein Yazdan, survived an assassination attempt that occurred in Erbil, after unknown gunmen opened fire on him near the Italian Village complex in the city center.
The source told the News Video Agency that Hussein Yazdan sustained serious injuries as a result of the attack and was immediately transferred to a hospital for treatment, noting that his health condition is being monitored.
He added that the security forces have begun an investigation into the incident, collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the attack site, while the identity of the gunmen and their motives remain unknown so far.
