Iraq and Sweden are discussing mechanisms to activate the cooperation agreement and combat organized crime.

The International Cooperation Directorate at the Ministry of Interior discussed today, Wednesday, with the Deputy Head of the Swedish Mission in Iraq, Nilaks Benwick, the latest updates on the security situation and mechanisms to enhance bilateral cooperation in the areas of combating organized crime, exchanging expertise, and building capacities.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that the International Cooperation Directorate held a meeting with the Deputy Head of the Swedish Mission in the presence of the Director of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and the Head of the Committee for Activating the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and the Swedish Ministry of Justice to follow up on the implementation of the terms of the joint memorandum in line with the priorities of the Ministry of Interior in enhancing institutional performance.

The statement clarified that both sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and joint consultation and activating existing cooperation programs to achieve common goals and contribute to supporting bilateral relations between Iraq and Sweden, in a way that serves the security interests of both countries.
