Iraqi-Saudi meeting in Jordan to discuss security coordination and developments in navigation.

Today, Wednesday, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein discussed with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud the security repercussions in the region and the regional efforts and potential understandings aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement received by the News Video Agency that Hussein met bin Farhan on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to discuss enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries and to review the arrangements related to the upcoming Arab summit and its location in light of security developments.

The statement added that the two sides addressed the arrangements for the anticipated visit of the Iraqi security delegation to the Kingdom and the mutual visits between the two parties, where Hussein outlined the Iraqi government's policy aimed at confining weapons to the state, while bin Farhan affirmed the Kingdom's support for the Iraqi government and its backing of its efforts to enhance the security of Iraq and the stability of the region.

The statement continued that both parties emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and joint work within the framework of the Arab League and regional frameworks to serve common interests and enhance security and stability.
