The song opens with a beginning that captures the spirit and spontaneity of Lebanese folk songs, as it says:
Salim Al Kul, O moon... Salim Al Kul
In my eyes, sleeplessness has slept... my beloved hasn't shown up
And I've stayed up a lot... it’s no longer early
Tell them I’ll leave, O moon... tell them I’ll leave
This opening reflects the atmosphere of longing and waiting from which the song emerges, in a simple yet profound poetic formulation that touches the listener's feelings and resonates with the musical identity of the work.
The lyrics of the song were written by poet Nizar Francis, while the melody carries the signature of Assi El Hallani, adding a new chapter to the series of melodies he has presented through his voice throughout his artistic journey. The musical arrangement and recording were signed by Tony Saba, who provided a modern musical treatment that preserved the authenticity of the song and its Lebanese spirit.
