The Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed today, Monday, during his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that Tehran, despite Washington's breach of its commitments, continues to strive for consensus and understanding, emphasizing its preference for political and diplomatic solutions to address differences.
The Iranian presidency stated in a statement followed by the News Video Agency that "Bezhaskian met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held in Kyrgyzstan, and the two sides discussed regional and international developments, as well as bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest."
The statement added that Bezhaskian emphasized that the continuation of the war is not in the interest of Iran, the region, or humanity, calling for de-escalation and avoiding the widening of the conflict and its potential repercussions on the peoples of the region.
The Iranian president noted that his country has fulfilled the commitments it accepted under the agreements made, while the American side has not met its obligations, which has contributed to complicating the situation and escalating tensions.
Pezeshkian stressed the importance of continuing communication with friendly countries and international partners, which contributes to supporting regional stability and opening avenues for diplomatic pathways, reiterating Tehran's commitment to its efforts to achieve understanding and safeguard its national interests.
