The Supreme Judicial Council announced today, Monday, the statistics for marriage contracts and divorce cases registered during the past month of August, in all provinces of Iraq except the Kurdistan Region.
The council clarified in a statement that the number of marriage contracts reached 21,133, while 5,775 divorce cases were recorded during the same month.
According to the statistics, the capital Baghdad topped the numbers of marriage contracts and divorce cases, with the Baghdad/Rusafa Court of Appeal registering 2,680 marriage contracts and 1,124 divorce cases, while the number of marriage contracts at the Baghdad/Karkh Court of Appeal reached 2,339, against 1,113 divorce cases.
Nineveh Province followed next in terms of the number of marriage contracts, registering 3,365 contracts, alongside 645 divorce cases during the month of August.
