The Ministry of Education announced today, Monday, that it has completed its preparations for the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, confirming that more than 12 million students will enroll in schools, institutes, and various educational stages.
The ministry's spokesperson, Karim Al-Sayed, stated that the ministry has prepared a series of plans and procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the academic year begins on schedule, noting that educational and teaching bodies commenced their work on September 1.
He clarified that the number of students includes those in primary and secondary education, as well as in private institutes and schools, with more than 1.2 million students registered for the first grade of primary school.
He added that the ministry continues to work on preparing school buildings and providing logistical essentials, in addition to completing student registration, second round exams, and staffing adjustments for educators.
Al-Sayed pointed out that the Minister of Education, Abdul Karim Abtan Al-Jubouri, has held a series of intensive meetings with the senior staff in the ministry to follow up on preparations, confirming that all relevant entities are working to provide textbooks and curricula, prepare schools, and address needs that precede the start of the academic year.
He indicated that the ministry is coordinating with education directorates and related parties to overcome obstacles, emphasizing that developing educational infrastructure and meeting increasing needs requires financial allocations and larger-scale projects in the upcoming phase.
