The Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative to the Arab League, Qahtan Taha Khalaf, discussed today, Tuesday, with the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army for Operations, Lieutenant General Saad Harbiya, ways to enhance security and military cooperation between Baghdad and Cairo and develop prospects for joint coordination.
A statement mentioned that the meeting addressed the importance of expanding cooperation between the military institutions of the two countries, contributing to supporting security and stability and enhancing common interests.
Both sides also discussed mechanisms for exchanging military experiences and practices and benefiting from the available capabilities of the Iraqi and Egyptian institutions, which would enhance capabilities and elevate the level of security cooperation.
The talks touched on preparations and arrangements related to the withdrawal of the international coalition forces from Iraq, scheduled to be completed on September 30, as well as the security requirements for the next phase.
Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing Iraqi national capabilities and continuing coordination with brotherly and friendly countries in security and military fields, stressing the need for continued communication between Iraq and Egypt to serve the security of both countries and their common interests.
