The artist Mustafa Kamel, head of the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate, announced the six-month suspension of festival singer Issam Sasa until the completion of the public prosecution's investigations into his recent appearance in a live video while holding a cigarette suspected of containing illegal substances.

Mustafa Kamel confirmed that Issam Sasa has frequently appeared on social media and applications like "TikTok" in a manner that does not align with the image of the syndicate and its members, emphasizing that the syndicate council does not interfere in the jurisdictions of investigative authorities, but he stressed his complete rejection of any abusive behavior.

The head of the musicians stated that anyone wishing to continue as a "blogger" or "TikToker" should seek another profession, as the Musicians Syndicate is designated for artists and singers only, warning that repeating such behavior will result in permanent expulsion from its membership.

The crisis surrounding Issam Sasa dates back several days after he appeared in a live broadcast on the "TikTok" application smoking a cigarette suspected of containing an illegal substance, prompting a lawyer to file an official complaint against him before the public prosecution.

The complainant accused Sasa of committing acts contrary to law and contributing to the promotion of crime, urging the relevant authorities to take the necessary measures to verify the incident.

The complainant called for summoning the singer to ask him about the source of the cigarette and the nature of the substance contained within it, in addition to examining the circulated video and ensuring its authenticity and that it has not been tampered with or altered using artificial intelligence techniques or editing.

The singer had made headlines in 2024 after being involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a person on the ring road in Giza Governorate.

Investigations and medical test results at that time revealed his use of the narcotic substance Tramadol, leading to his trial and a six-month prison sentence after reaching a settlement with the victim's family.
