Discussions between Baghdad and Muscat to explore the de-escalation and Iranian-Omani understandings.

Iraq's Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein discussed regional developments and the outcomes of talks between Omani and Iranian delegations in Tehran during a phone call on Friday with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi.

The Foreign Ministry stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that Hussein listened to an explanation about the results of the Omani-Iranian talks, particularly regarding agreements related to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. He pointed out that both sides discussed the lingering issues between the American and Iranian sides and touched upon the proposed American sanctions that would restrict economic and financial dealings with Iran and their potential implications for the regional situation.

It clarified that both parties emphasized the importance of holding urgent meetings for the concerned countries to discuss ways to address the serious developments and mitigate their repercussions, in addition to the necessity of continuing cooperation and coordination between Baghdad and Muscat and working on joint initiatives while inviting other countries to participate in them.

The ministry noted the agreement between the two sides to continue communication and coordination, contributing to the formulation of ideas and joint plans and supporting efforts aimed at containing tension and enhancing stability in the region.
