Baghdad and Berlin open the file on bilateral cooperation and the future of military presence.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein met today, Tuesday, in the German capital Berlin, with German Deputy Foreign Minister Gesa Andreas von Geier.

The Foreign Ministry stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the meeting focused on discussing bilateral relations between Iraq and Germany, ways to develop and enhance them in various fields, as well as discussing the developments in the region and ways to reach solutions that contribute to containing crises and avoiding the repercussions of their continuation.

The statement added that the two sides addressed the situation of German forces operating in Iraq in light of the end of the international coalition's presence at the end of this September, and the prospects for cooperation and coordination in the upcoming phase, emphasizing the importance of continued joint communication to strengthen Iraqi-German relations and support the interests of both countries.
