The head of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen, Mahdi Al-Mashat, accused the Saudi regime today, Friday, of obstructing the realization of the goals of the September 26 Revolution and seizing Yemeni national decision-making for a total of sixty-four years.
In a speech delivered on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, which was followed by the News Video Agency, Al-Mashat stated that the Saudi regime has caused Yemen decades of suffering due to the weakness of state institutions and the division of power centers despite the declaration of the revolution to build a strong national army. He pointed out that poverty, deprivation, and inequality have continued to burden Yemenis, while the national decision remains subject to external interference and internal conflicts.
Al-Mashat added that the Saudi regime has directly intervened in various internal and external affairs of Yemen and extended its influence over the pillars of the state and its decisions through a network of affiliates. He noted that sovereign decisions, the formation of governments, and the appointment of military leaders were contingent upon its approval.
He continued that the Saudi regime has not allowed the extraction of Yemen's oil and gas resources for several decades and has obstructed serious attempts to build a just state and a national army capable of protecting sovereignty and independence, clarifying that Riyadh viewed Yemen as a sphere of influence that should remain weak and disarmed.
Al-Mashat explained that this Saudi approach is linked to the American-Zionist project aimed at weakening the nation and keeping its countries in a state of dependency and fragmentation.
